Songwriter sessions are typically a chance to be a fly on the wall as musicians perform their original songs and then share their thoughts, feelings, and opinions on the craft of songwriting.

This Saturday night, May 11, those four walls will be the Community Arts Café. Winston-Salem Songwriter Sessions kicks off at 8:00 pm with performances by local artists Tyler Nail, Jonathan Loos, Quique Rodriguez-Pastor, and Andrew Lazare. David Ford will be emceeing the event and after each song I'll ask a question or two of the artists and then audience members can chime in too with questions or comments of their own. Tyler and Jonathan recently joined David Ford Live in Studio A.

Tyler is a Winston-Salem native, songwriter, singer, guitarist and drummer in several performing acts in town. He fronts his original project, simply titled Tyler Nail, and he's independently released 4 albums, one of which, entitled Winter to Winter, can be found on iTunes. He also fronts the Americana cover band, The Bulls Hitters, who perform at Bulls Tavern every Thursday night at 9:30 pm.

With Tyler at The Bulls Hitters is guitarist, singer and songwriter Johnathan Loos. He was raised in Advance, and he's a solo artist, as well as the lead guitarist and supporting singer in Tyler Nail's band. John is currently recording his first full-length album, set to be released later this year. John performs regularly in the triad with various acts, often at the Turntable in Jamestown and Krankies coffee in Winston-Salem.
