NC A&T E. Gwynn Dancers
The E. Gwynn Dancers of NC A &T State University are ready to transport you to a different place and time with their upcoming production Diggin' Our Roots: From South Africa to South America. The exciting dance company is made up of incredibly skilled young performers who dance with authority and strength, enriching audiences as they entertain. Their movements will be driven by African drums like the djembe, with vibrant costumes and song in a variety of different languages and dialects. Diggin' Our Roots is Saturday night, April 6 at 7:30 in Harrison Auditorium on the A&T campus. Professor of Dance and Department of Visual and Performing Arts Chair Dr. Eleanor Gwynn and her dancers recently visited Studio A to share the sounds and movements of the upcoming performance. She was joined by Adjunct Professor and Director of Marketing and Publicity Ms. Donna Baldwin-Bradby, student dancers Genet Cherry, De Raymes Harris, Kierra Eaddy, Ra'Eisha Vinson and percussionist Barry Campbell.
Lorena Guillen Tango Duo
Tango and more! is the guest artist recital coming up in Brendle Hall on the Wake Forest University campus featuring the Lorena Guillen Tango Duo. It's an entire evening of sultry tangos from Argentina and new string quartets with the sounds of the Andes and the rhythms of Mexico. The Buenos Aires native singerLorena Guillen and her husband pianist/composer Alejandro Rutty will perform Sunday night, April 7 at 7:30 pm in Brendle. On the program: traditional tango favorites, tango Nuevo arrangements and string quartet performances. The following weekend on Saturday afternoon, April 13th at 3:00pm in Greensboro, The Lorena Guillen Tango Duo will be joined by violinists Fabian Lopez and Jacqui Carrasco—and tango dancers Ezequiel Cazanetz and Fernanda Moreira. They will be demonstrating and teaching basic tango steps. That performance will be in the Campus Ministries building on the UNC Greensboro campus. Lorena and Alejandro are both music scholars as well as great performers, and they teach music and composition respectively at UNCG. They recently performed in WFDD's Studio A.

The King Bees
Bassist/vocalist Penny “Queen Bee Zamagni” and guitarist/keyboardist Rob “Hound Dog” Baskerville have been bringing the best of the blues to the Piedmont for 10 years as co-directors of the fabulous New River Blues festival in Grassy Creek, NC. Together they form The King Bees, and they've been stingin' and swingin' for 25 years with the likes of Bo Diddley, Carey Bell, B.B. King, Nappy Brown and many others. We're sampling from the title track from last year's King Bees release titled “Carolina Bound”.
