Winston-Salem State University will get two grants to help its online Rehabilitation Counseling program reach more students and help more people.
The grants from the U.S. Department of Education total more than $2 million.
The two grants are designed to help develop Winston-Salem State's Master's-level program. It includes money to help counseling students in underserved rural areas.
The grants target a shortage of rehabilitation counselors, who help people with emotional or physical disabilities live independently. The money will also be used to train students who work with the deaf or hard of hearing and help them reach their employment goals.
