Voting Rights Trial Enters Second Week

The first week of a federal voting rights trial featured testimony that changes to the law in 2013 put an undue burden on minority voters.

More than 20 witnesses have already testified in the case, which challenges sweeping changes made to the state's voting laws two years ago.

Plaintiffs including the NAACP argue the law targets minority voters.

Experts this week are expected to testify that election fraud is not a significant problem in North Carolina. Voting integrity was a key selling point in passing the bill.

Plaintiffs are expected to wrap up Wednesday or Thursday. Then the state will put on their witnesses, who will argue the law is fair and not designed to disenfranchise minorities.
