Tomorrow night the Grammy-winning Turtle Island String Quartet will explore jazz and classical traditions with American music from Jelly Roll Morton to Thelonious Monk. They'll be joined by one of today's leading jazz pianists, Cyrus Chestnut.
The concert is part of the Secrest Artist Series and will be Thursday, September 17th. It begins at 7:30pm in Brendle Recital Hall on the Wake campus.
Turtle Island violinist David Balakrishnan co-founded the groundbreaking crossover string quartet more than 30 years ago. David spoke with WFDD's David Ford back in early August just ahead of their first performance with Cyrus at Ravinia.
