American artist currently residing in Rome, Josephine Halvorson paints outdoors.
She typically finishes a canvass in a single session that may span an entire day. During her intense painting periods of post-industrial machines, architectural structures, or discarded objects, Josephine develops interesting associations with her subjects, and while discovering new things about herself.
Her exhibit of 23 paintings that relate to space and made over the last few years is titled "Slow Burn." It'll remain on display at SECCA through May 31st.
Curator Cora Fischer says Josephine's paintings connect the viewer's experiences, associations and futures in new and unexpected ways.
