Music in Print: The Evolution of Amplifier Zine

In the world of punk & underground music, the zine has been its hardscrabble literary companion for years. A zine is usually photocopied, stapled, and generally of lesser physical quality compared to a magazine. When Amplifier Zine was launched in Greensboro 2 years ago it shared these qualities.

Founder & editor-in-chief Jen Hasty launched her publication, with the help of lots of friends, as a way to bridge her passions for music & journalism.  While the commitment to promoting the underdogs of music, film, and art have remained, the publication has physically evolved, adding a touch of gloss & a loss of a staple here and there.

The next issue comes out in March, but in the meantime you can visit their website to read articles & check out their live music videos.  The next Amplifier music event is February 21^st at Black Cat Burrito in Boone. The music you'll hear in the show is by Greensboro's Black Squares White Islands.
