A class led by internationally known poet, author, activist and educator Dr. Maya Angelou reveals poetry is more than a bunch of words.
Poetry can be a doorway into other cultures, moments in history and the sufferings of others. John Mundell, Nicole Little and about a dozen other Wake Forest University students agree they have a greater appreciation for poetry. During the 2011 summer semester, they participated in Dr. Maya Angelou's poetry class and experienced the lives of people from all over the world and from other times. This spring, Dr. Angelou released a new book of poetry, Mom & Me & Mom.
In this segment of WFDD's Real People, Real Stories, John Mundell and Nicole Little explain how this art form challenged and broadened their personal views.
