The department says it's already corrected problem areas.

Winston-Salem's Fire Department is facing three OSHA violations. This agency deals with worker safety.
The news comes after 16 complaints were filed by an anonymous source, earlier this year. The first involved a defective fire jacket, the second involved a training session scheduled too late regarding hazardous materials. The third centered around outdated material for firefighters who may be exposed to blood while doing their job.
The city now faces a $6,500 fine.

According to risk manager and assistant city attorney Tony Baker, Winston-Salem leaders have not decided if they will pay the fine or if they will contest the citations. He also says the fire department has already put new procedures in place addressing these issues.
