Charlotte-based bank Truist has announced it will donate $25 million toward coronavirus relief measures.
Truist Financial Corporation says the money is meant to support both short and long-term needs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a news release, the bank will donate $3 million to local United Way organizations. $1 million will be earmarked for both the CDC Foundation and Johns Hopkins University to aid in response and recovery efforts.
The remaining funds will be given to community programs focusing on technology, youth and senior care, small business assistance, and relief for hourly workers.
The bank says it's also increasing family care benefits for its employees. That includes 10 days of paid time-off for school closings and other family circumstances.
Truist is now based in Charlotte following last year's merger of BB&T and SunTrust.
