The United Way of Forsyth County is hosting a free, community event to discuss faith, housing and how these two topics are interconnected now more than ever.

"Front Porch Conversations" is a series of panel discussions that aims to tackle local issues.

Cedric Parker, faith-based engagement coordinator with United Way of Forsyth County, says housing is one of the biggest topics affecting people today, and religious organizations can play a crucial role in addressing it.

"The faith community is one of the largest landholders within our county, and probably across the United States as well," he says. "So to bring them into that conversation to say, how can this community leverage – whether it be a building, land usage, so on and so forth – to you know, better serve our community, better serve our neighbors."

Parker says the name of the panel discussion comes from a time when front porches were a space for neighbors to gather and talk about pressing matters.

The virtual event will take place at noon on Thursday.
