The songs on Vince Staple's album Summertime '06 all feel "true" in the way great songwriters can distill emotional truth into a handful of phrases. But this song, an ode to summer days where nothing to do means potential for plenty of trouble, goes heavy on details and includes the words "that's true" after every line, lending it a feeling of autobiography. On stage at SXSW, as on the album, it crashed right into "C.N.B."
