The city of Greensboro activated its White Flag warming centers to be used Monday night from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. at Greensboro Urban Ministry and Glenwood Recreation Center.

Nightly temperatures in the Triad are forecast to dip into the low 20s and even teens for most of the week.

The rec center accepts adults with children, while the ministry provides shelter for men and women.

Greensboro activates these centers when temperatures drop below 32 degrees or if freezing precipitation is in the forecast. The city has not yet confirmed if the centers will be accessible in the coming days.

Check the Greensboro website for more information on shelter openings.

Winston-Salem’s The Dwelling is offering a nightly warming space from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until the end of February. The facility is not set up for sleeping but does offer hot drinks and soup.

The organization also offers sleeping shelters for women at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and for mothers with children at Calvary Moravian Church.
