Though he's probably best known for his work with Brooklyn bands Woods and The Babies, Kevin Morby is carving out a vibrant career of his own. In 2014, the multi-instrumentalist shook things up and moved from his longtime home in New York to a quiet neighborhood in Los Angeles, where he began work on new material.
Morby took the stage at Pickathon this past summer and performed songs from 2014's Still Life for the crowd nestled among the trees at the Woods Stage. His set included this song, "Motors Runnin'," which features Morby's Dylan-esque drawl and jangly guitar hooks. A new Kevin Morby album, Singing Saw, came out last week.
The annual Pickathon festival returns August 5-7 at Pendarvis Farm just outside Portland, Ore., with a recently announced lineup that features headlining performances from Beach House, Wolf Parade, Jeff Tweedy and Yo La Tengo.
