Cool treats don't have to be limited to the summer season in the Piedmont and High Country! Thanks to the warm weather we get to enjoy icy treats most of the year (or all year for the brave!). At WFDD we want to learn about what our listeners love about living in the region, so in May 2023, We Were Wondering...Where do our listeners go for a cool treat?
We received many recommendations for the best ice cream, snow cones, and everything in between; thank you to everyone who answered our question! Scroll to read the submissions and find each location pinned to our Google Map.

Abbott's Custard in Clemmons. It's from Rochester, NY---like me! No idea why someone decided to open one in Clemmons, of all places. But I am glad they did.

My favorite place to get a cool treat in NC is Cindy's SnowCreamery in Clemmons, NC! They have over 100 snoball (snowball) flavors that can be made with fluffy shaved ice or Snow Cream! I'm a creature of habit, so I almost always get a White Tiger or a Rootbeer Float. But I met a woman last summer who vowed she was coming to Cindy's SnowCreamery every day to try a new flavor - even the Dill Pickle and Toothpaste flavors! Now that's dedication!

Maple View's County Line Creamery Company in Gibsonville, NC. The best homemade ice cream I've ever had sourced from local ingredients! And very low prices! Went last weekend and got 4 waffle cones for the family for less than $20. And the scoops are enormous!

Scoops Ice Cream & Such in Mount Airy! This fun and quirky ice cream shop is in a converted camper van along the roadside and includes a metal sculpture park open to all.
