The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools Board of Education unanimously approved an appreciation supplement for employees at their meeting this week.

All employees in permanent positions with the district will receive an extra $750 this month. That includes long-term substitutes, part-time staff and substitute bus drivers who have worked 25 of the past 30 school days.

WS/FCS Superintendent Tricia McManus said the supplement will be paid for in part by the state.

“But then also through funds due to people taking on additional loads, with vacancies that are there," McManus said. "And so money going back into the hands of people that have taken on additional loads. It was very important to us.”

The supplement should arrive in a separate check before the holidays.
