YCWA High Point released a new report on racial disparities in the city, and the organization is hoping it can help the community address local inequities.

The Racial Equity Scorecard looks at gaps in wealth, education, public safety and health between Black and white families. YWCA High Point Executive Director Heidi Majors says this shouldn't be another report that sits on the shelf.

"But how can our community collectively take this data and utilize it to really improve the disparities that we have within our community, and to provide equitable opportunities for all," she says.

According to the report, Black households earn 40% less income than white households in High Point. The study also includes recommendations such as improving access to quality health care and developing more affordable housing.

Majors says the hope is that the report can serve as a benchmark. She says that way in a few years the community can look back and measure its improvements.
