The UAE is adopting a 4.5-day workweek and a Saturday-Sunday weekend

The change will apply to federal government entities starting in January. UAE officials hope it will enhance workers' well-being and boost the country's economic competitiveness.

Shake Shack shortened managers' workweeks to four days at some stores a year and a half ago. Recently, the burger chain expanded the trial to a third of its U.S. stores.
