Under a proposed merger agreement, Aldi will acquire all outstanding shares of Jacksonville, Florida-based Southeastern Grocers Inc., the parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys.

Grocers from Aldi to Trader Joe's are pitching financial incentives to their employees to encourage them to get vaccinated.

German grocers Aldi and Lidl are aggressively growing their U.S. footprint. Aldi, which aims to have 2,500 stores by 2022, has recently renovated this store (left) in Alexandria, Va. And Lidl's new location in Manassas, Va., was its 30th in the country.
