The two Australian leaders of the trafficking ring and several other smugglers have been informed that their execution by firing squad is imminent.

Australians Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan were the ringleaders of a group that sought to smuggle heroin out of Bali in 2005. Their families said the men had turned their lives around since then.

Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran, the ringleaders of the heroin-smuggling ring, are expected to be given their execution dates on Saturday. Indonesian law requires they receive 72 hours' notice.
