Seven-year-old Jazmine Barnes was shot and killed Sunday in Houston while riding in a car with her mom and siblings. The suspect is still at large, and police haven't yet determined a motive.

Pennsylvania authorities said Jennair Gerardot found out her husband was cheating on her and then gunned down Meredith Chapman before turning the seven-shot revolver on herself.

"We look at her appearance. She looks like anybody's mother or grandmother," said Undersheriff Carmine Marceno of Lee County, Fla.

FBI statistics released Monday show that the number of hate crimes reported last year rose by nearly 5 percent compared to the previous year.
