Boeing statement: "The Board of Directors decided that a change in leadership was necessary to restore confidence in the Company." More than 300 people have died in Boeing 737 Max plane crashes.

Boeing executives' testimony suggests the company knew enough to at least question the safety of continuing to fly the 737 Max after the first of two deadly crashes involving the aircraft.

One pilot messaged that the problem was "egregious" and he had "basically lied to the regulators (unknowingly)" when he had told the FAA that the flight control system was safe.

With all 737 Max jets grounded, the board voted to strip CEO Dennis Muilenburg of his dual role. Two of the planes crashed, killing 346 people, when an automated flight system malfunctioned.

Ahead of Paris Air Show, Dennis Muilenburg concedes his company did not give enough information about a malfunctioning safety light.

Speaking to shareholders and the press, Dennis Muilenburg defended Boeing's planes and processes. But he admitted a software system and its activation were a "common link" in two recent crashes.

After a second 737 Max jet crashed in Ethiopia, it took Boeing weeks to speak openly about the role its flight control software may have played. Critics say that's too long.
