Chicago Teens Receive 5 Years Of Probation For Sexual Assault That Was Livestreamed

In March 2017, a 15-year-old girl was assaulted by five or six boys and men as dozens of people watched on Facebook Live. Two 15-year-old boys have now been sentenced to five years of probation.

Liu Jin Ying, a 26-year-old farmer, has thousands of viewers a day watching his livestream diaries of life on the farm. He has nearly 200,000 subscribers and earns about $1,500 a month.

Enterprising young farmers in remote, rural areas have become Internet celebrities by livestreaming mundane details of their lives to urban Chinese audiences. They're part of a $3 billion industry.

The suspect, Steve Stephens, allegedly uploaded a video in which he fatally shoots an elderly man. Stephens also says he's killed more than a dozen other people. Police have not verified that claim.
