Drawing on a centuries-old tradition, a Naples couple has begun lowering baskets from their balcony. People are encouraged to take food they need, and others are encouraged to add food to the baskets.

Men have long commanded the pizza-making scene, creating what one female champ calls a "macho problem." But that's starting to change as more women open pizzerias and gain recognition in the field.

A handful of young upstarts are changing Naples' traditional pizza-making habits, bolstered by a new flour called Nuvola (Italian for "cloud"), developed by Italian miller Caputo.
