Toney, who has worked for the City of Winston-Salem since 2016, accepted a position as town manager for Carrboro, a community about 15 miles southwest of Durham.
A Winston-Salem official says the city’s effort to convert a motel into supportive housing for those experiencing homelessness is “not likely to move forward.” The news comes weeks after the city’s partners on the project were named in a multi-million dollar lawsuit.
The candidates will answer questions from a five-member panel at a public forum Wednesday. Assistant City Manager Patrice Toney says they’ll address concerns raised by feedback from the community during the search.
