Piedmont Land Conservancy

Most of the 311 acres are forested, including a long section bordering the river. The land features steep hills with abundant trees and rhododendrons leading to bluffs overlooking the water.

The move keeps the land out of the hands of developers in a growing part of the county near a leg of the planned western loop of the Northern Beltway. 

Hundreds of acres of land along the Dan River will soon be open to the public for recreation, river access, and plans are in place to eventually make the land part of the state’s nearly 1,200-mile-long Mountains-to-Sea Trail.

The Piedmont Triad is set to benefit from $100,000 in environmental grants. The funding was announced on Thursday by state Attorney General Josh Stein.

A local conservation group has completed a land deal that protects an urban swath of farmland in Winston-Salem. 

The Piedmont Land Conservancy (PLC) announced that it has reached its year-end goal to preserve nearly 100 acres of farmland in Winston-Salem.
