The Massachusetts woman sent her boyfriend a barrage of texts encouraging him to kill himself. He did, and she was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. A state supreme court has upheld the sentence.

Followed by her parents, Michelle Carter arrives for her sentencing at a courtroom in Taunton, Mass., on Thursday. Carter had been convicted of involuntary manslaughter over the suicide of her boyfriend.
