Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school officials are deciding on their best option in choosing a bond package expected to be on the 2016 ballot. The choices were unveiled at a board meeting Wednesday night.

Superintendent Beverly Emory presented a long list of capital needs to the Board Of Education, along with several choices for addressing them.

The Winston-Salem Journal reports that the most comprehensive plan comes at a cost of more than $550 million dollars. That option addresses most of the district's need, from capacity issues and aging buildings to new and different programming choices.

Two schools were uprooted this year when groundwater contamination was discovered under the facilities.

The plan would also include moving part of Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy's high school program, possibly to Winston-Salem State University.

The board plans to examine all the plans in detail in the next month. Public feedback will be collected this fall, and a final plan will go the Forsyth County Commissioners in April.
