The Alamance-Burlington Board of Education is working to fill a vacant seat after Board Member Chuck Marsh resigned at the end of February.

Since then, 16 Alamance County residents have submitted letters of interest to fill the position including retired educators, parents and a former North Carolina House Representative.

Board Member Tameka Harvey thanked the applicants at a recent school board meeting.

“It's not easy sitting up here making decisions, you know," Harvey said. "So that says a lot to know that someone else would say, hey, I want to do what's best for our children in ABSS.”

Candidates are invited to speak at an upcoming meeting on April 28, where the board may vote to fill the vacancy.
