Cone Health is continuing its health care expansion in Randolph County with the recent opening of a MedCenter in Asheboro.
The new development will combine area oncology services with the newly-opened urgent care, primary care center and pharmacy.
Construction on the 51,500-square-foot facility broke ground last October.
At the time of its announcement, Cone Health officials framed the $72-million-dollar development as an investment in Randolph County and its population.
With thousands of new jobs set to open as major companies like Toyota invest billions into manufacturing operations in the area, a press release from the hospital system said it’s preparing for increased health care demand.
The facility’s Cancer Center will feature a linear accelerator, a medical tool that uses an extremely precise beam of radiation to treat cancer. Other devices like a new CT scanner, will mean fewer trips to Greensboro for health care, the release said.
Primary care at the MedCenter of Asheboro will open in December.
