The Federal Emergency Management Agency is granting an extension request from Gov. Josh Stein for individuals affected by Helene to apply for aid.
According to a news release, the agency pushed back the deadline for its individual assistance program, which provides financial help among other things.
Homeowners and renters with uninsured losses from the storm may be eligible to apply for FEMA assistance. Aid can be given to those who are uninsured or underinsured.
Last month, Stein also requested an additional $19 billion in federal funds to help restore infrastructure, support home repairs, and reduce impacts from future natural disasters.
The deadline to apply for FEMA's individual assistance program is now April 7.
