North Carolina's public inauguration ceremony scheduled for Saturday for new Gov. Josh Stein and other statewide elected officials has been canceled because of approaching winter weather, the state inaugural committee announced Wednesday.
New North Carolina Gov. Josh Stein has already taken several actions to help the short- and long-term recovery from Hurricane Helene. Stein traveled to Asheville on Thursday where he announced he has signed five executive orders related to the historic flooding in western North Carolina in late September.
North Carolina's latest Democratic governor was sworn into office on Wednesday, as Josh Stein succeeded Roy Cooper in a top elected position for the second time in eight years.
