Greensboro will have a new city manager in 2022.
Earlier this week, City Council announced that it hired Taiwo (Tai) Jaiyeoba as the next city manager.
Jaiyeoba comes to Greensboro from Charlotte where he currently serves in a dual capacity as assistant city manager and director of the Planning, Design and Development Department.
According to his bio, he brings nearly 30 years of regional, municipal and private sector experience. Greensboro officials say they are excited to welcome Jaiyeoba. In a press release, they say he spearheaded efforts to address Charlotte's growth in an equitable, sustainable, and livable manner.
They say he also led several transformative initiatives over the past three years, including the development of the Charlotte Future 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
Jaiyeoba succeeds David Parrish who resigned from the position in June. He will travel to Greensboro for the January 18 City Council meeting for a formal introduction.
Jaiyeoba will officially begin on February 1.
