Taiwo Jaiyeoba abruptly resigned from his position as Greensboro’s city manager in March. Two senior-level city employees later told WFDD he had violated the city’s sexual harassment policy.

Two senior-level city employees who spoke to WFDD on condition of anonymity said they have seen documents related to an internal inquiry which found Jaiyeoba sent inappropriate messages of a sexual nature to a female employee. Both sources said the city council was briefed on the matter before voting 5-4 to award him severance Tuesday evening. 

The Greensboro City Council accepted the resignation of City Manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba on Tuesday.

Greensboro Police Chief John Thompson announced Monday the city would appeal a court order to release body camera footage of a domestic incident involving the city manager.

Greensboro police said in a statement Friday officers were not asked to not follow normal investigative procedures after they were called to City Manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba's house in December.

Greensboro City Council members want to verify that best practices were followed by the police officers who responded to an alleged assault at the home of City Manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba.

Greensboro will have a new city manager in 2022.
