The High Point Police Department is facing sharp criticism for how officers handled the report of an alleged sexual predator over the weekend.
A group called "Bikers Against Predators" posted a nearly one-and-a-half-hour video online Saturday afternoon. In the footage, a High Point man is confronted for allegedly speaking with a minor over the Internet and police are called to the scene.
The group involved is based in Indiana and their website says their mission is to expose online predators.
Criticism on social media came after no one was immediately arrested.
In a statement earlier this week, High Point Police Chief Curtis Cheeks defended officers by saying that evidence was taken on the scene. He said the matter was being handled lawfully.
Cheeks said he was also concerned about personal attacks being made against department staff and their families.
High Point Police say the investigation into the incident over the weekend is ongoing.
