High Point Police

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is reviewing the case, and the two officers involved have been placed on administrative duty.

Cheeks has served in many roles with High Point police prior to his appointment including interim chief of police and commander of the investigations section.

Stroud is stepping down effective Nov. 30, and High Point city officials have already posted the position. They’re seeking candidates with a college degree and at least 10 years of law enforcement experience.

According to a press release, the Congresswoman and a staff member were treated and released from a local hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The staff member was not named. 

High Point police confiscated almost $50,000 in fake product packages they say are used to disguise THC edibles during a sweep of local tobacco and vape stores.

The North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office has released the autopsy of a Black teen who police say was shot to death by a Davidson County deputy last year. 

High Point is moving forward on a new police station to replace the building it has called home for 35 years.
