And one tactless tweet was deleted. Saudi officials removed the post, which seemed to allude to Sept. 11, but that didn't ease a dispute that erupted after Canada criticized the kingdom last week.

Most of the people who died are elderly men and women living alone in apartments with no air conditioning, and many had chronic health conditions.

President Trump has railed against Canada when it comes to trade. A particular point of criticism is the dairy industry. Canada slaps steep tariffs on imports of milk, cheese and butter from the U.S.

"I issue this statement reluctantly, in response to mounting media pressure," the former reporter wrote in a statement on Friday.

The accusation is nearly two decades old. The Canadian prime minister said Thursday that he apologized "in the moment" but that "the same interactions can be felt very differently" by people involved.

Among the items targeted in retaliatory tariffs: ketchup, powerboats, dishwashing liquid, steel and aluminum. And gherkins. Canadian businesses have flooded a Canadian pickle business with new orders.

"The brutality of American politics right now is something that is profoundly shocking to Canadians," says a former Trudeau adviser. "I think many people feel they do not recognize the U.S. anymore."

Toronto police say Trolley Hunters was stolen from the unauthorized show Sunday — and they've released surveillance video backing it up. That hasn't quieted conspiracy theorists, though.
