Chelsea Manning, the transgender soldier convicted of leaking classified U.S. documents, has been released from a military prison in Kansas. President Barack Obama commuted her sentence in January.

"For the first time, I can see a future for myself as Chelsea," says the former Army private, who was arrested in May of 2010 for leaking a massive trove of classified records.

Obama dodged a question about the more than five dozen Democrats in Congress who are boycotting the inauguration on Friday. "All I know is I'm going to be there, and so is Michelle," he said.

President Obama has shortened the 35-year prison sentence of Chelsea Manning, the Army private who leaked military secrets to WikiLeaks. Obama also pardoned a general who lied to leak investigators.

The White House is flooded with last-ditch requests for clemency by several prominent applicants including NSA leaker Edward Snowden and former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

In an emotional letter, Manning talks about how the struggle with her gender led to one largest leaks of classified information in U.S. history.
