In Historic Trial, Mayan Women Accuse Ex-Military Officers Of Sex Slavery

For the first time, sex slavery is being acknowledged in court as a war crime. The 11 alleged victims are using the trial platform to condemn this kind of abuse, for fear it could happen again.

Researchers in the Middle East have requested the first-ever withdrawal from the "final backup" seed bank because of destruction caused by the Syrian civil war.

Army Sgt. 1st Class Joshua Gendron carries the remains of Army Sgt. Charles Schroeter, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry in an 1869 battle during the Indian Wars.

Sgt. Charles Schroeter, who received the Medal of Honor for his valor during the Indian Wars, was buried in an unmarked communal crypt in San Diego. On Thursday, he returned to his comrades-in-arms.

A cypress tree swamp in Byrnes Lake, part of the more than 200,000-acre Mobile delta. It's the most biologically diverse river delta system in the country.
