Pat Chambers resigned after the university said it investigated new allegations of inappropriate conduct. In July, a Black former player said Chambers referenced "noose" around the player's neck.

The NCAA Division I Council announced on Wednesday that the 2020-2021 men's and women's college basketball seasons can begin on Nov. 25.

The NCAA Division I Council voted to push the start date back two weeks from Nov. 10, saying most of its schools will have ended in-person classes for the fall semester by then, reducing exposures.

The Big Ten, which includes Michigan and Ohio State, and the Pac-12, which includes Stanford and USC, put off playing college sports this fall as confirmed virus cases in the U.S. rise.
