The host of the political satire program for 16 years ended his run with many of the personalities who had either helped him make the jokes or been on the receiving end of them over the years.

The set tells "an important story about how political satire and news as humor made 'The Daily Show' a trusted news source for a generation," the D.C. museum devoted to news said.

The South African comic, who assumes the reins of the Comedy Central series on Sept. 28, did a show in Washington, D.C., this weekend. Here's a sample of his comedy stylings.

Stewart, the show's host, called Noah, the man named to succeed him, "incredibly thoughtful and ... funny." Noah had been criticized for the tone and content of some of his tweets.

Soon after it was announced that Noah will host The Daily Show, it emerged that some of his tweets mocked women and Jews — tweets that critics have called sexist and anti-Semitic.
