The private military contractor Wagner Group launched a brief uprising this weekend, raising big questions about the Russian military and the conduct of the "special military operation" in Ukraine.

President Vladimir Putin said an armed mutiny by Wagner mercenaries was a "stab in the back" and that the group's chief, Yevgeny Prigozhin, had betrayed Russia. Prigozhin later called off his group's action and the Kremlin said he would go to Belarus.
