Forsyth County Board of Commissioners

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners met last week to hear from several organizations regarding an increase in youth violence.  According to officials with the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, there were nearly 1,500 complaints this year to the Forsyth County Juvenile Court. 

A collaborative effort to support Pre-K classrooms in Forsyth County is underway. American Rescue Plan Act funds will be used to address staffing issues and other challenges in early childhood education.

A new bill proposal would de-annex Smith Reynolds Airport from the City of Winston-Salem.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will soon vote on whether to continue contract negotiations with the local Humane Society.

Forsyth County officials are no longer considering Tanglewood Park for a multiuse agricultural event center.

The Forsyth County Detention Center will have a new health care provider for inmates at the facility. Commissioners officially approved a new contract with NaphCare.

The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners will vote early next month on a resolution affirming the county's support of the Second Amendment. 

Forsyth County commissioners have approved their budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes a property tax increase.
