Page High School was slated to be rebuilt in the district's facilities master plan from 2019, but with rising construction costs, the district can’t currently afford it. 

Four Guilford County school board members were sworn in Tuesday evening. One outgoing member, who had been embroiled in a years-long controversy, vowed to run for the seat again in the future.  

The Guilford County Board of Education District 3 seat has been at the center of an ongoing controversy that began nearly two years ago when it became vacant. The county GOP pushed for one individual to fill it, while the school board pushed for another. But on Election Day, voters didn’t pick either of them.  

An assessment of Lindley Elementary School in Guilford County reveals it may need to be rebuilt entirely. Some community members had hoped the 96-year-old building would be preserved. 

Guilford County Schools officials voiced concerns about the county manager’s proposed budget at a meeting on Tuesday. Without more funding, they say the district stands to fall behind on teacher pay, facilities maintenance and more. 

Guilford County Schools is developing a plan to continue supporting technology upgrades and student devices after federal COVID-19 funding expires this year. 

Guilford County Schools has made plans to sell five of its office buildings and purchase one new one to house district staff. Officials say the consolidation will make operations more efficient, and increase employee collaboration.
