Guilford County Schools

An assessment of Lindley Elementary School in Guilford County reveals it may need to be rebuilt entirely. Some community members had hoped the 96-year-old building would be preserved. 

The Guilford County Association of Educators led a rally Thursday afternoon advocating for the county board of commissioners to include more money for the public school system in its proposed budget. 

Guilford County Schools officials voiced concerns about the county manager’s proposed budget at a meeting on Tuesday. Without more funding, they say the district stands to fall behind on teacher pay, facilities maintenance and more. 

Dishita Agarwal has been recognized as a United States Presidential Scholar. The honor was given to just two students in North Carolina and 161 in the country. 

Gov. Roy Cooper visited a Guilford County high school Tuesday afternoon in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week. He toured a few of the school’s Career and Technical Education classrooms. 

Forty choir students from Guilford County will be performing at New York City's renowned Carnegie Hall this summer. The Ragsdale high schoolers say they think the experience will change their lives. 

The Toyota USA Foundation announced today a $2 million investment in Guilford and Randolph County Schools. The funds will go toward preparing students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
