The former clerk in Rowan County, Ky., was sued by two same-sex couples to whom she refused to grant marriage licenses, claiming it violated her religious beliefs. Her attorney says she will appeal.

A jury will decide whether former county clerk Kim Davis is responsible for legal fees and other monetary damages after she refused to sign marriage certificates for same-sex couples in 2015.

The Kentucky clerk was jailed in 2015 for refusing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Now, together with the legal group that defended her then, she has crossed the Atlantic to carry on her fight.
