The scandal-plagued former Republican congressman, ousted from his House seat last year, abandoned his long-shot independent bid for Congress. But he suggested his political career may not be over.

George Santos, disgraced and ejected from the House, says he will seek office again on Long Island. He'll face Rep. Nick LaLota in the GOP primary.

The New York congressman entered his plea to a growing list of charges in federal court and a trial was set for Sept. 9, 2024. He also faces an effort by fellow Republicans to oust him from the House.

Karen Vergata was one of four people who were left unidentified for years after their remains were found. The development comes three weeks after a suspect in a string of killings was arrested.

After a spate of attacks last year, Long Island state parks officials have increased patrols and deployed more drones to scout the waters for possible danger.

"I feel like healing is coming," New York critical care nurse Sandra Lindsay said after receiving her shot. "I hope this marks the beginning to the end of a very painful time in our history."

"Between this wedding and this birthday party, there are 56 positive COVID-19 cases and nearly 300 under quarantine," said Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone.
