Pulitzer Prizes: AP Wins Public Service Award For Slave Labor Investigation

The Los Angeles Times won for breaking news reporting during and after the San Bernardino shooting. The acclaimed musical Hamilton won the prize for drama.

John Carroll, then executive vice president and editor of The Los Angeles Times, speaking at a panel discussion with fellow editors in 2003. Carroll died Sunday at age 73.

The Times won an impressive 13 Pulitzer Prizes in Carroll's brief, five-year tenure there. Carroll also worked for The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Lexington Herald-Leader.
