Malheur National Wildlife Refuge

The Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in eastern Oregon was seized by armed militants for 41 days. Many of the occupiers have pleaded guilty already; the first trial begins Wednesday.

In January and February, armed anti-federalists occupied a wildlife refuge in Oregon for 41 days. They left behind detritus and damage, as shown in photos from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

While she invoked the number of the beast in her request for damages, Shawna Cox listed a wide array of people she plans to subpoena, from judges to local and federal police.

Three of the last four armed occupiers of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge had surrendered earlier this morning. The last man has now given himself up, bringing an end to the 41-day occupation.

The FBI said it arrested Bundy in Portland late Wednesday night. Charges will be made public Thursday.

For the past week, only four militants have remained at the refuge near Burns, Ore. They're among the 16 whom a grand jury indicted on charges of conspiracy and using threats and intimidation.

During the armed occupation in Oregon, many have asked why officers don't just storm the wildlife refuge. The answer may rest in Ruby Ridge, Idaho, where in 1992 a similar standoff ended in violence.

"We all want to leave," says Sandy Anderson, a militant who's still in the refuge. "We're here, and we're worried we're going to die."
