2 First-Time Boston Marathoners Emerge Victorious

Edna Kiplagat won the women's race in 2:21:52. Geoffrey Kirui took the men's race in 2:09:37 — his first-ever marathon victory. For both Kenyan athletes, it was their first time competing at Boston.

"The London Marathon is a worldwide event. Let's take it out of this world," says British astronaut Tim Peake, who will run the course virtually, on a treadmill in the International Space Station.

Horses, riders and runners crossed three streams in the course of their 22-mile race through the hills of central Wales. The average finish time was the same for both species — four hours.
